Wide Sargasso Sea

I believe that i will probably read this story a few more times in my life. I enjoyed this book, i liked hearing the prior story of Rochester and i think was as interesting as Jane Eyre this time it was just a different view point we see.

John Keats

A Thing Of Beauty

A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:
Its loveliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness; but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep
Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing.

Therefore, on every morrow, are we wreathing
A flowery band to bind us to the earth,
Spite of despondence, of the inhuman dearth
Of noble natures, of the gloomy days,
Of all the unhealthy and o'er-darkened ways
Made for our searching: yes, in spite of all,
Some shape of beauty moves away the pall
From our dark spirits. Such the sun, the moon,
Trees old, and young, sprouting a shady boon
For simple sheep; and such are daffodils
With the green world they live in; and clear rills
That for themselves a cooling covert make
'Gainst the hot season; the mid-forest brake,
Rich with a sprinkling of fair musk-rose blooms:
And such too is the grandeur of the dooms
We have imagined for the mighty dead;
All lovely tales that we have heard or read:
An endless fountain of immortal drink,
Pouring unto us from the heaven's brink.

Nor do we merely feel these essences
For one short hour; no, even as the trees
That whisper round a temple become soon
Dear as the temple's self, so does the moon,
The passion poesy, glories infinite,
Haunt us till they become a cheering light
Unto our souls, and bound to us so fast
That, whether there be shine or gloom o'ercast,
They always must be with us, or we die.

Therefore, 'tis with full happiness that I
Will trace the story of Endymion.
The very music of the name has gone
Into my being, and each pleasant scene
Is growing fresh before me as the green
Of our own valleys: so I will begin
Now while I cannot hear the city's din;
Now while the early budders are just new,
And run in mazes of the youngest hue
About old forests; while the willow trails
Its delicate amber; and the dairy pails
Bring home increase of milk. And, as the year
Grows lush in juicy stalks, I'll smoothly steer
My little boat, for many quiet hours,
With streams that deepen freshly into bowers.
Many and many a verse I hope to write,
Before the daisies, vermeil rimmed and white,
Hide in deep herbage; and ere yet the bees
Hum about globes of clover and sweet peas,
I must be near the middle of my story.
O may no wintry season, bare and hoary,
See it half finished: but let Autumn bold,
With universal tinge of sober gold,
Be all about me when I make an end!
And now at once, adventuresome, I send
My herald thought into a wilderness:
There let its trumpet blow, and quickly dress
My uncertain path with green, that I may speed
Easily onward, thorough flowers and weed.

Bbbbbblake!

So i really enjoyed the Blake plates, i loved having the poems with the illustrations. The illustrations can either enhance the poem and make it more understandable or it can complicate things and make the meaning be multiple things. The Sick Rose is actually what my final paper is on and i enjoyed writing it and actually felt like i knew what i was talking about. I love reading and enjoy literature but there arent many things i enjoyyyyy like i did Blake's Songs of Innocence and Experience.

Jane Eyre

Here is the ugly Jane Eyre

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QBHL3b3WMQ

I found this slide show on Jane Eyre. This has always been one of my favorite novels, i dont find it boring and the first time i read it i think i read it in a few hours. This movie clip isnt the movie i have seen, i saw the one with the ugly woman as Jane Eyre.

Oroonoko

Behn seems to be telling a complete non-fiction story of what happened to Ornooko but within the story it seems like many of the parts are not completely true. She talks as if she had seen all of the events she spoke of and that it is all true. I think she wanted everyone to believe that it is true, maybe it didnt happen to him specifically but it seems she is trying to make a point. She wants to show the cruelities that have been made against the Africans. Behn takes things that may have not happened to Oronooko but to other but applies it to him to show us the injustices.

Modest Proposal

In the 1930'2 and 1940's people were desperate and naive enough to follow Hitler and the Nazi's, so I would say that Swifts "Modest Proposal" could have been easily taken serious but certain people. When people are in a desperate state it seems that they will do anything to just try and survive. I wouldnt say that the people in germany were uneducated or stupid people but simply that they were desperate to have someone lead them. I believe the same for Swift;s idea if he truely reached out and tapped into the weakness of people than it could have been taken farther.

How can people like this even exist?

My father has been a Marine for over 25 years and my step-mom just recently retired after 25 years of service in the Marines. I have grown up supporting the military and have never known anything besides constant respect and gratitude for the troops.
While on facebook a few months ago i came across the most disgusting and shameful group i have ever encountered. It's called "Fuck the Troops", I probably sat there for a good five minutes just trying to understand how people could ever feel this way. I understand that maybe you aren't a supporter of the war efforts, but there are men and women fighting and some dying for us and our freedom.

I have lost two very close friend due too the war within three days of eachother, even though it was probably one of the hardest things i have gone through and still am dealing with i still support our troops. Even if you dont support them then shut up and dont say anything at all.

I am usually the most open-minded person you will ever meet but when it comes to things like this there is no excuse for that behavior. I dont want to hear those horrible thoughts. It makes me irate, but at the same time extremely sad.

How can people feel that way? When you figure it out let me know.

Life and Times of the Country Wife

The Country Wife is actually pretty good. I enjoyed reading this because it was funny to see all the characters interacting. Wycherely must have enjoyed writing this because it shows in the text. Its so foolish about how all the men act and how Wycherely has portrayed the women. I know they arent real but obviously there was people like that. I LOVE Horner, he is just hilarious. The fact that he would make up such an outrageous lie just so he can get into the women's pants (or dresses shall i say) is so funny. I'm sure there are men out there today that would do something just as crazy as that, pathetic but entertaining. haha

Homer is such a good father :)

So for my example of satire I picked The Simpsons. Think about it, Homer and Marge, are the epitamy of the worst parents on Earth. Everything they do in the show is an example of how parents should not be. The creators of The Simpsons show obviously wanted to shed light on parenting and entertain us with the worst parents of the century. Parenting is suppose to be the one thing that you have to be serious about. Mothers and fathers are role-models for their children and Homer drinks excessively, smokes, drives drunk, swears and does many other horrible things that children should not be around.

Who can't get enough of coffee and gossip?

While reading "Internet in a Cup" i just wished they were places like that around here. These days life is so fast passed we dont have time to just sit around and discuss important topics with one another. I extremely enjoy coffee but whenever i get a cup of coffee I have to drink it fast because most of the time I am going to work.

Its interesting how their were different coffeehouses's for different subjects or events that were being discussed. I guess it makes sense that you would want to go to a place where you would have some input to contribute on a subject your familar with. At the same time wouldnt you want to learn about new things and get thrown into a completely different setting than your used too? Personally i love experiencing a new scene or different ideas than what i am used too. Life gets too boring if you dont.

Im sure Europe has plenty of places that are similar to what is described in this article, because everyone knows how hip Europe is. haha
Now tell me how good does that coffee look and that chocolate cake, yummmy!!
